Sydney Archbishop-elect Most Rev Anthony Fisher OP is resolved to run the marathon it will take to provide everyone a spiritual home in a humbler, more responsive and genuinely pastoral Church.
But what will no doubt bamboozle many observers is the course he is determined take to achieve this change of culture.
Born in 1960, Archbishop-elect Anthony comes from a younger generation of bishops not constrained by perspective of “Counter-Reformation” Catholicism that rests on tradition and established political privilege.
This means he will seek to evangelise postmodern Australia through an impassioned appeal to concrete propositions and claims to real events in history that can be rationally debated and rejected or defended.
He will address priests and parishes about the Blessed Trinity, the Incarnation, bodily resurrection, the Blessed Eucharist - about a God who seeks us out, who “loved us first.”Read Fr Umbers full post at the ABC Religion & Ethics website
