Baptism Reconciliation Confirmation/Communion Marriage Anointing of the sick
In the Sacraments of the Church, we encounter the Risen
Christ in person in a unique way. As parents we seek to model the life of Christ
to our children. How? Through being
attentive to God’s Word which shapes us; through the faith community
in which we share a common pilgrimage through life ; and the priest who
witnesses to the person of Christ amongst us. Above all, we are drawn into the
life of the Triune God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
BAPTISM: This is the beginning of our faith journey. If you are new to the Parish, welcome. Through your own Baptism, you and your family are participants automatically in the life of the Parish. Feel free to approach the Parish Team about how you feel you would like to be part of the Parish.
For those first-time parents and those unfamiliar with the ceremony of Baptism for your children, we invite you to a Baptism Preparation evening at the Holy Family Centre at Luddenham on the first Wednesday of each month at 7.30pm, (except in January). Please ring the Parish Office at Luddenham to make a booking. Baptisms take place on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month at 11.00am. There is also the opportunity for Baptisms in Mass. Speak to the Parish Office about dates and possibilities.

RECONCILIATION: This Sacrament of the forgiveness of sins is available every Saturday morning from 9.30am at the Holy Family Centre at Luddenham (except on the 3rd Saturday of the month when Mass is at Greendale church). The sacrament is also available Saturday evenings at 7.45pm at Sacred Heart church at Warragamba. First Reconciliation occurs for children at the end of Year 3 (Sept-December), depending on their readiness, and all the Catholic and State school children are prepared through a parish/family-based programme.

CONFIRMATION / FIRST COMMUNION: This follows on from First Reconciliation of the previous year. Often the children gather in the same home-groups they were in for First Reconciliation. In 2003, Confirmation/ First Eucharist begins with a Parent Session on 13th March, Presentation Mass for candidates on the 6th April, 5 home-group-meetings through May and the first week of June. Our Parish celebrates Confirmation with First Communion in the one ceremony. Our Confirmation/ First Communion dates for 2003 are Saturday evenings 5.30pm 7th June, 14th June, and 21st June.

MARRIAGE: The Sacrament of Marriage is the celebration of God’s love in a couple’s commitment to each other, and holds with it a mature choice. Marriage may be celebrated as a Nuptial Service or within Mass. Marriages are celebrated on Saturdays only. Your Marriage and preparation are important to us and will include an exploration of your relationship, a designing of the wedding ceremony, and will include about three or four separate evenings of preparation. A Birth Certificate and Baptismal Certificate (less than six months old) is required for Marriage. Please contact the Parish Office about details at least six months before the Wedding.

ANOINTING OF THE SICK: On the First Sunday of the month, the Parish celebrates the Anointing of the Sick in Mass. The elderly and the sick are anointed at their homes and at hospital. Please call the Parish Office at Luddenham if you are aware of someone who is elderly, sick, or about to undergo surgery.
